Sizing Your Ring

The safest procedure to determine your ring size is to choose a ring already worn by you which feels secure, snug, and comfortable. Then, take your ring to a jeweler and ask them to determine your ring size using their sizing-kit. If you do not already have a ring, you can still approach a jeweler and have them size your finger for you.

18K Tri-Color Gold & Titanium Designer Wedding RingIt is advisable to have sizing trials on two different occasions: once in the morning and once in the evening. It is not uncommon for ring sizes to change slightly due to swelling of the fingers or knuckles during the day.

Be aware that unlike size units such as inches, pounds or gallons, ring sizes are NOT standardized, regulated or controlled. Different kits from different jewelers may vary to upwards of 1/4 to 1/2 size. If possible, ask the jeweler to provide you with the inner diameter of the proper size, in inches to the 3rd decimal (xx.zzz) or millimeters to the 2nd decimal (xx.zz).

Perfectly Fitting Ring?

There are many considerations that might make a ring fit not perfectly. The ring wearer's knuckles might be considerably wider than the ring-bearing area making the fit loose on the finger and a snug fit might not pass the knuckles. Also, fingers may well more or less.

A proper fitting ring is usually a compromise between removing it easily and a snug fit. The differences between the two will vary among different people.
